Hi. I’m John Paul Fischbach, I’m the Chief Alchemist and CEO here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator. It’s Tuesday so here’s another Hot Tip. This week the theme is: Get a head start the night before. Decision making takes the most time and energy out of your day. It’s true. They’ve done studies. We know this. Making the decisions is what takes the energy out of your day. Start your day knowing the things that you want to accomplish. Having a plan before you sit down at your computer or before you go into the studio allows you to dive in without having decisions about what to do first.
The thing that kills you is trying to do the work and also be planning to do next or planning what the next important thing is. Relax that part of your brain. That takes up a lot of energy. We have a saying that says plan the work then work the plan. That’s what we’re talking about.
Set aside five minutes the night before to plan out your top three priorities for the day ahead. Make this part of your wind down routine at the end of the day. This way you get a head start on the day and you know that your top three things are in the cue. Make sure that your top three things aren’t just urgent things. Make sure that you have at least one important thing.
Now if you need a refresher on urgent versus important on your to do list. Remember to have a look at Hot Tip Tuesday #50 but the really the only planning I mean is literally five minutes. If it takes you longer than five minutes to plan your top three priorities then you have another planning problem.
Five minutes, top three. If you only get two so what. Do that little planning step. Some days you’re going to get three but try to limit it to three like lots of things that we offer here on Hot Tip Tuesday. This one is a behavior change and changing behavior takes anywhere from 30 to 45 days and during those 30 to 45 days you have to see positive results or you’re not going to reinforce this new behavior.
Try it out five minutes at the end of your day to say ‘what are the top three priorities that I want to accomplish for tomorrow?’ That’s it. That sets the planning and then tomorrow boom, you’re at it. That’s this week’s Hot Tip. If this tip was useful for you if getting a head start would be something that would save you some time and some energy and some stress then please like this video.
If you have a friend who always stutters and doesn’t quite know what to do in the next day share this video. What I’d love you to do is once you have it and you go these are my three top priorities list them below the video. That act of listing them makes you achieve them so try that out as well.
Here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator we more than want to survive we actually want you to thrive. In order to thrive you really should subscribe. We’ll see you next week for more Hot Tips.
