John Paul: Hi. I’m John Paul Fischbach, the Chief Alchemist here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator. Welcome to another Hot Tip Tuesday. Once again I have the pleasure of inviting our IT Guru and Computer Whisperer, Craig Lambie into the studio. He’s got another really great Hot Tip to share.

Craig: This week I thought I’d share a fantastic tool which I mentioned in the intro to the channel which is LastPass. LastPass, oh my gosh how much time and effort has this saved everyone I’ve introduced it to. LastPass is the last password you’ll ever need to remember. If you’re using the internet properly today then you’ll have a different password for every single website that you log in to.

John Paul: Or if you’re not you’re using the same password for every website which is really not safe but there’s where I was.

Craig: The wrong thing to be doing here is using the same password for every single website maybe with even a slight variation like you add a ‘1’ on the end or you change a number out in the middle of it or something. It’s the absolute worst thing that can happen.

Hacking happens all the time on the internet. Websites get hacked and some of those websites that you logged into actually have really terrible security but because they have a really bad security over here doesn’t mean that this really good, well secured website like your bank or something over here if you use the same password on both then the person that hacks this website now has this password too. Then can just log in. They don’t even need to hack the good website. You really should change your password for every single website on the internet.

John Paul: But can you imagine having to remember 30, 40, 50 passwords? LastPass remembers them for you and logs in for you. It’s the coolest thing.

Craig: It logs in for you. There’s a double whammy here. It not only saves you time but it also checks that it’s the real website for you. One of the things that can happen is a scam artist will send out a website that looks exactly like your bank’s website and they’ll send you an email saying “Please log in to your bank there’s some problem with your account.” You click the link inside and it looks just like your bank. You put in your bank log in details and bang they know have your bank log in details.

One of the reasons to use LastPass is it recognizes that that website is not your bank and it will not log you into it because it’s not the URL, that thing that is at the top, for your bank. They know that it’s not your bank so it won’t log you in. You’ll be sitting in there going “Why isn’t this logging me in?” because you use LastPass to log in. Then you look at little harder and you’ll see that it’s a phishing website and you will not give away your banking details.

We go into this in a lot more detail in the Artist Transformation School and also if you’re interested in just a little bit more about LastPass then write below in the comments, ask us a question and we can hook you up.

John Paul: It’s great. I am a convert. I tell everyone I know to use LastPass. You can share Last Passwords. It’s so secure, it’s so protected and it just makes the password thing not a problem ever again. It’s very cool so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to LastPass.

I know this is a helpful tip. If it’s helpful, ‘like’ the video but for sure share this. Share this video with someone. As Craig said if you want a little bit of more tutorial, you want some more information, write a comment, and leave us a question. We’ll hook you up. It’s all about thriving. As an artist we want you to more than survive we want you to thrive. In order to thrive you need to subscribe so be sure you subscribe to our channel and you’ll get lots more of these hot tips as we go. Cheers for now.
