Hi, I’m John Paul Fischbach here. The CEO and Chief Alchemist of the Auspicious Arts Incubator. I want to ask you a quick question. Are you seeing a gap between where you are now and where you want to get? Of course. That’s why you’re here watching a Hot Tip. The Hot Tip is to identify the problem because they say a problem well stated is a problem half solved so this week I’m going to share a model that has helped so many artists figure out why they are stuck. No matter how hard they try why there is this gap.
Look at this image. This comes from Robert Dilts and Gregory Bateson. It’s the 7 Primary Places Where We Usually Get Stuck. The base environment. Is the issue that is keeping you from your goal one of your environment, your surroundings, the other people around you? Think about that. Is that where you’re stuck.
The next level is behavior. The specific actions that you take, the things that you’re actually doing is that where you’re stuck? The next level is capability and skills. That is the things that you have, your capabilities, things you can do, the skills that you have do you need different ones? Then above that is beliefs and values. This is a real important one where lots of people get stuck. Is the goal actually something that is important to you?
Then the level above that is identity. This is also huge for us. Do you see yourself as someone that can achieve that goal? Do you identify as someone capable of achieving that goal? Is this important to you? Do you have the capabilities and skills? Are you doing the skills that will get you there and are you in the environment where this can happen? The last one is spirituality and purpose. What is the bigger reason? What is the higher purpose for what you’re doing?
You see that this model helps you see where the problem is and maybe what you need to work on. Did you like this Hot Tip? Be sure and subscribe to the next one and tell a fellow artist about us.
