I’m John Paul Fischbach. I’m the CEO and Chief Alchemist here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator with another hot tip for this Tuesday. The theme this week is celebrating you. As an independent artist, you don’t have a boss, and that’s one of the cool joys about being an independent artist. You’re your own boss, but you also don’t have a boss to reward you and to appreciate you for things like, working overtime or achieving something great or making a change or for self-improvement. There’s no boss to give you that “Atta, girl!” or that “Atta, boy!” that high five, you know, that moment of appreciation. Your self-esteem is up to you. You know, I think that’s probably why it’s called self-esteem.
You know that it’s important to think well of yourself, particularly as an independent artist. It’s really important to think well of yourself and to use positive self-talk. You know what happens if you wait for others to do it for you, and you know that other people can tear you down. I mean look, we help children develop self-esteem, but for adults, improving our self-esteem is a choice that we have to make. So I want you to choose to esteem yourself. I want you to try this this next week. At the end of every day, esteem yourself. Give yourself a high five. Give yourself hug for something that you should be proud of. Did you complete something? Did you start something? Did you get clear about something? Did you help someone? Did you stave off of procrastination? Before you drift off to sleep, give yourself a hug for something that you accomplished.
Look, you have been buffeted around by other people’s esteem. It’s time for some self-esteem. Okay, if this hot tip hit home and was useful, please share it. If you know a fellow artist or have a fellow artist friend who tears themselves down or listens to other people’s opinions and esteem too much, please share this video with them. Here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator, we really want you to more than survive, we absolutely want you to thrive. That’s why we do this.
