Hi, John Paul Fischbach, CEO and Chief Alchemist here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator with another Hot Tip for this Tuesday. The theme this week is a Personal High 5. As an independent artist you dont have a boss and that’s one of the joys being an independent artist you’re your own boss but you also dont have a boss to reward you and to appreciate you for things like overtime, for achieving something great, for making a changing or for self-improvement.

There is no boss to give you that attagirl, that attaboy, that high 5, that moment of appreciation. Your self-esteem is up to you. I think that is probably why it’s called self-esteem. What other people think of you should really be called other people esteem. That’s a different thing altogether.

You know that it is important to think well of yourself particularly as an independent artist. It’s really important to think well of yourself. You know what happens if you wait for others to do it for you and you know that other people can tear you down. We help children develop self-esteem but for adults it’s a choice. I want you to choose to esteem yourself.

I want you to try this for the next week. At the end of every day esteem yourself. Give yourself a high 5 for something that you should be proud of. Did you complete something? Did you start something? Did you get clear about something? Did you help someone? Did you stave off procrastination? Before you drift off to sleep give yourself a high 5 for something that you accomplished. You’ve been buffeted around by other people’s esteem. It’s time for some self-esteem.

If that Hot Tip hit home and was useful please like this video. If you have a fellow artist friend who tears themselves down or listens to other people esteem too much please share this video with them. What I’d love to start is a bit of an esteem conversation so below this video I’d love you to write down what you esteemed yourself for. I think if we start to share that with each other that is going to grow and we’re going to develop other esteem in reflection of our own self esteem.

Here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator we really want you to more than survive we absolutely want you to thrive. That’s why we do this. In order to thrive you need to subscribe. We’ll see you next week.
