Hi. I’m John Paul Fishcbach. I’m the Chief Alchemist here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator. Welcome to Hot Tip Tuesday. Today’s Hot Tip is something that I say to almost every single artist that we work with and it’s helping you understand and balance the three pressures that you’ve got which is your life, your arts practice and your business. One of the issues with that is managing all three.

There are three concentric circles that operate in those three parts of your life. There is the big circle which is all of them, all the people that you deal with, all the people that need you, all the people that you help. Then there’s a smaller circle which is us and that could be your primary team, your partner, your family. Then there’s a teeny, tiny circle that’s called me.

What tends to happen is we work between our life and our practice and our business is that we deal with all of them first everybody that needs you, everyone that asks for a favor, every time the phone rings and someone needs something. We help all of them and there’s so much. As our business and our practice and our life expand there’s more and more of them that need help.

What happens is we’re helping all of them so the us gets diminished. Your family, your partner, your team they’re desperate for a bit of you and there’s not much of you to go around if you’re helping all of them.

The next thing that happens is that me gets diminished. That’s our health, it’s our sleep, it’s our nutrition, it’s our exercise. All of those shrink and shrink and shrink. We can keep helping on this big circle of all of them at the cost of us and at the cost of me.

What we need to do is to take that pyramid and flip it upside down and look after me first. Look after your nutrition, look after your sleep, look after your health because the healthier and stronger you are the more of you there is to help us. When the family and the partner and the team are strong then there’s more of us to help more of them. If you want to help more of them the best way is to make sure that you look after me.

If that tip was helpful then please like this video. If you know someone who needed that bit of help please feel free to share this video. If you want to make any comments or ask us any questions feel free to do that right below this video. Here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator we want you to more than survive we want you to thrive. In order to thrive you need to subscribe so please subscribe to this channel and we’ll bring you lost more cool things as we go. Cheers.

It’s a bit of clear logic that you help me so that we can all help us. Then all of us can help them. It’s pretty straightforward. It makes logical sense but it’s completely backwards to the way many of us live our lives.

I try to throw that piece of advice to you as a Hot Tip Tuesday to just flip that around. Look after yourself; take sometime this week to say what do I need to feel better, more fit, more alert, more alive. Once you start taking care of you the trickledown effect, the ripple effect it would be really dynamic.

That’s it for this Tuesday so if this hot tip was good for you, was helpful for you please like it. If you know someone who’s struggling with the same issue please share this video. If you have any questions and you want to make any comments feel free and I’ll get back to you and we’ll start a bit of dialogue around looking after me and us and them. See you next Tuesday.
