This week’s hot tip takes a look at what’s holding you back from your infinite possibility. I’m John Paul Fischbach, I’m the CEO and Chief Alchemist here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator, and this week we’re gonna look at that big wall of fear that stands between where you are now and you’re infinite possibility. You know, every day we work with artists to help them to see their infinite possibility and to figure out how to get past this big wall of fear that’s keeping them away from reaching their infinite possibility.

So the best way to help you understand this is to draw a little illustration. So humor me here and I’ll show you what I mean in a drawing. So what we find is that lots of artists are stuck in their comfort zone. Now, you know, that’s right over here. So on this side there’s a little cloud, and in that little cloud, there you are in your comfort zone. And over here on this side is your infinite possibility. And right in between is this huge block of fear. Now fear is anything that can possibly keep you away from this side.

Here’s how this plays out. Occasionally we get restless in our comfort zone, and there’s an opportunity that you become aware of, or there’s something that you could do that’s kind of exciting, so you move out of your comfort zone and you hit the block of fear, and then you suddenly have justifications and excuses like, “Oh, I think I better wait until I finish what I’m doing now,” or maybe again, “I think I’ll wait until X happens,” and then you get back to Y, and you’re in your comfort zone, right? Or you head out again toward your infinite possibility, you hit the wall of reason, “Oh gosh, I really can’t afford it right now, so I’m not gonna take this opportunity,” and you come back to your comfort zone. Now there’s many things that will happen that’ll pull you toward your infinite possibility over here, but you turn back at the fear, right?

So look, sometimes you can just close your eyes and you can charge through and sometimes you make it, and sometimes you can ignore the fear and slip around the side of that big block of fear. But that’s cheating. That’s not gonna make the journey to your infinite possibility something that you can relish. You have to go through the fear. You have to see your infinite possibility, be clear about why you want this, and then move through the block of fear. The fear that you perceive is a golden opportunity to grow. So figure out why that fear is stopping you, move through it, toward the infinite possibility, and then observe this golden opportunity to learn something, and to change, and to grow. Because that’s really what we’re after. The important thing is to move through the fear. Seize that moment because on the other side of that fear is where your infinite possibility lies.

So this week, I invite you to identify something exciting that’s over here, on the side of the infinite possibility, and then walk toward it. Well what’s the first fear that comes up? Identify it and work through it. Ask it, “What will it take to move through you?” Don’t let your fears turn you back to your comfort zone, face them and work through them.
