Hi. John Paul Fischbach here, the CEO and Chief Alchemist of the Auspicious Arts Incubator with another Hot Tip for this Tuesday. This Tuesday I want to focus on the Power of Positive. This is another in the Gratitude series. You might want to check out Hot Tip #68 as part of this series.
Lots of artists tell me that they dont get the whole gratitude thing. When I ask them about their energy and their mindset they tell me that they struggle and that their thoughts often slide very easily into loss, fear, stress, depression. Remember that what you focus on expands.
Here’s a really simple exercise to retrain your mind and build up some positive energy. A whole heap of positive energy is stored inside gratitude. Here’s a training exercise to practice digging that gratitude gold out of the things that we take for granted. Let’s tap it.
I recommend that you set a gratitude alarm for three times today. Find three times today that that alarm is going to go off and you’re going to do this little exercise. When it goes off think about what you’ve just been doing and be grateful for all the people and the technology that’s made this thing possible for you.
For example I just had breakfast. I think about the eggs. I’m grateful for the eggs and the chickens and the farmer who is free ranging those chickens and all the things that are involved in getting all those chickens and those eggs to me, the grocery store, everything. Then I think about the chili that I put on top and I think about I’m really grateful for my friend Michael who gave me the recipe and actually made me this little chili that I put on. Then I think about the kettle that I boiled and how incredible it is that I just go over to the sink and I hit this switch and then I have boiling water and then I can make myself a tea. Then I think about the fact that there’s water that comes out of the tap in my own kitchen.
You start to feel this grateful feeling. This energy starts to build up and that is good. This emotion changes your physiology. The purpose of this exercise is just to help you feel the positive power that comes from gratitude. It’s not about making you humble or grateful. It’s just to help you switch your mind from fear and stress and loss to joy and peace and love. Isn’t this where you’d want to live and create from anyway? Give it a try. When the alarm goes think of something that you have been taking for granted and feel the gratitude that is inside.
