Hi. It’s John Paul Fischbach, Chief Alchemist and CEO here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator. It’s Tuesday so welcome to another Hot Tip. This week’s theme is Too Many Ideas. The joy of being an artist is we’ve got so many ideas. That’s the joy of being artists but it’s also the pressure of being an artist but it’s also the pressure of being an artist and it’s also the anxiety of being an artist having so many ideas. Okay, that’s the state that we live in so how do you decide?

What we’re learned in working with hundreds and hundreds and what I’ve learned myself as an artist is that you need to get the ideas outside. You need some outside perspective, outside of your head perspective. Take the ideas of the things that you could do and make a list. Get them outside of your head. Write them down on a piece of paper. Make a list. No judgment just list them.

Once you’ve got them listed you’re going to try to sort. It’s about balance. I think you should always choose one that is easy and one that is challenging. You want a balance. You want some things that are going to challenge you and some things that are just going to be easy but it’s a balance.

Because we’re the Auspicious Arts Incubator I also would encourage you to pick one that is going to get you closer to your goals. I would encourage you to float three to the top of your list. An easy one, a challenging one and one that is going to get you closer to your goals.

I’ve got a little matrix for you to use. I want you to interview yourself, seriously out loud. Remember you’ve got to get it outside of your head. I want you to do this out loud. Use this matrix. You’re going to answer yes or no to each. You can even do it with me now.

Pick an idea that you have floating around. Something that is an idea, it’s been on the backburner. It keeps coming up to your consciousness. Pick that so you’ve got that idea, that project that you could do. Okay, good. Now just answer yes or no out loud to me. Is it easy? Yes or no. Will it be challenging? Yes or no. Will it be cheap to do? Yes or no. Will it be expensive to do? Yes, no. Is it brave? Yes or no. Is it certain? Yes or no. Is it going to have a big payoff? Yes or no. Is it going to have a small payoff? Yes or no. Is it fun? Yes, no. Will it be work, feel like work? Yes, no. Is it known? Yes, no. Is it unknown? Yes or no.

That’s it. It just helps get it outside of your head and give you some ways to sort. Then look back at your answers and make a choice. There’s also something that you should consider. It’s called the Delta Factor. Delta, the triangle shape means change. How much will you be changed by doing it? Once you’ve got your top three then say what’s the delta factor. On a scale of 1 to 10 how much will doing this project or engaging in this idea or manifesting this. How much will it change you by doing it because you want something that is going to engage you, that is going to change you?

There is no perfect answer but knowing why you would do something we’ll help you find the juice to begin it. When you look back at that matrix and you see the reasons that’s going to help you find the juice to begin the project or it’s going to give you the certainty to hold off.

That’s this week’s Hot Tip. If that was helpful to you to learn how to sort some ideas and deal with the too many ideas you’ve got then please like this video. If you have an artist friend or someone else who has so many ideas share this video. Maybe you can work together out loud to get your list together. What I’d love to know is when you choose project I’d love you to describe below why you made that choice? What part of this matrix helped you make that choice?

Remember here at the Auspicious Arts Incubator we want you to more than survive we want you to thrive. In order to thrive you should subscribe so we’ll see you next week .thanks.
